A Sherpa Jacket For Summer

I live in LA and yes, it is quite warm in the summer but one of the best things about living in this town is that it generally cools down at night. Living in a casual city, I tend to opt for skinny jeans when I go out, as you can dress them up or down - whenever it's appropriate. And, I love a versatile jacket that I can throw on with a nice outfit or when I'm chilling in yoga pants which is why I love this CottonHood Sherpa Lined Zip Hoodie in Heather Grey.

I Blot, Therefore, I Am

I recently took an impromptu trip to Kona on the big island of Hawaii and stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. As expected, the island was quite warm and humid. Applying makeup seems almost silly but as a beauty junkie, I always like a climactic challenge when it comes to makeup application. As the day wore on, even my normally dry skin got shiny and oily. That's when my new best friend, blotterazzi came in quite handy.

Heard of Roots? They Give Back Canada-style

I've just returned from spending the Thanksgiving weekend in Toronto. Yes, I know, I spent it in a land that does not celebrate Thanksgiving the same time us Americans do. However, my family banded together and we feasted on a bird and all the fixings.

On my last day there before I was catching my evening flight home, we hung out at the super fancy Yorkdale Shopping Centre where I stumbled upon a very cool Canadian store called Roots. Ironically, both of the founders are Americans but fell in love with the Algonquin Park as kids and later moved to Canada. (Sounds like a plan to me - more on that later...!) This was the perfect store as I had to find some friends some authentic Canadian duds. They have the best cabin wear, hats, sweatshirts, bags - you name it. And they do their very best to try and maintain a "made in Canada" ethic although they've had to outsource more in the later years.

I really liked how involved they were in giving back to communities. The list is long and impressive as they cover categories from environmental to children and the community. Locally, they've support special programs for Toronto's Hospital For Sick Children and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada. On a more global level, they've helped raise funds for the tsunami victims in Asia and have been a long time supporter of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.

So, the next time you're in Canada, check out this fun store...or just check it out online and know that you're giving back by a single purchase with this great company.

DwellStudio's Gold Ornaments Give Back To Haiti For The Holidays

In their first holiday decor collection, DwellStudio has designed a set of three gold, animal ornaments which are the cutest! These Menagerie Ornaments consist of an elephant, a giraffe and a rhino and they're simple and classic enough to adorn on your tree or place on your mantle for the holidays.

But let's get to the good part: DwellStudio has partnered up with Caribbean Craft in Haiti to help with the design of the ornaments.  And with this initiative, half of the proceeds are going to Every Mother Counts which is non-profit organization that works to reduce the women who die during complications of childbirth and pregnancy. (And the Founder and Maternal Health Advocate is the amazing Christy Turlington Burns.)

Cuyana For Christmas

It's my favorite time of the year! The holidays - where you get two full months of fun, jolly-ness and thankfulness. It's at these times where I most want to write about the good we can do for others and overall - just be kind. A smile or compliment goes a long way these days.

So, let's start with this little online boutique called Cuyana, which means "love" in Quechua. They have everything from tops to dresses to bags and accessories. And their brand message is "Fewer, better things", which I, as a slight minimalist, totally agree with. (However, my shoe collection would speak differently!). It is a curated selection of high quality products founded by Karla Gallardo and Shilpa Shah

They have what you call "The Lean Closet Movement" which is an amazing charitable initiative. When you make a purchase and select "lean shipping" at checkout, they send you a reusable bag to fill up with items that you don't want anymore. Mail it back to them (shipping label is provided) and they will donate items to their non-profit partners who will give to those who are in need of clothing. And wait! You'll also get a $10 towards your next Guyana purchase. How amazing is that?!? (And I noticed in their latest catalog that they're offering FREE SHIPPING on any order placed this holiday season.)

Fall-ing For Fringe

I'm digging it! Fringe is hot again for this fall and I spotted this gorge bag on pre-sale at Henri Bendel called the A-List Fringe Satchel. Loving the zippers (feels a bit Jason Wu-ish), the dark snakeskin leather pattern and the removable crossbody. It's perfection in a bag! Order now online and get it before anyone else.

Multi-Function Never Looked So Good - The St. Tropez Layered Necklace By Henri Bendel

By now, you may know that I love multi-function. Killing two birds with one stone is just pure genius.  And anyone who may know me, may also know that I quite fancy the jewelry from Henri Bendel. Whoever the designers are...well, I'd like to shake their hands for creating my massive obsessions with their rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces.  You should see my wishlist - it's out of control.

So, when I saw this latest beauty - I just couldn't stop looking in awe.  A 3-in-1 necklace.  I mean, hello!!!  It's called the St. Tropez Layered Necklace.  It's part of their latest collection inspired by the South of France.  Check. It. Out.

A rhinestone choker!

J. Crew Features The Ropes Bracelet

Ships ahoy!  I just saw this super cute, nautical-inspired bracelet in a J. Crew email and as I'm obsessed with cool jewelry, I had to share.  Allow me to introduce you to The Ropes Cape Elizabeth Rope Bracelet which is currently being sold via J. Crew.  This RISD alum and accessories designer, Shana Aldrich Ready, hails from Maine where she found her inspiration for her jewelry line from the marine culture in Maine and inspired by her travels along the New England coastline. How cute is this?  I must have one.

I'm a Klutz and Need these Joe's White Jeans

If anyone knows me, they know I trip when there's nothing around.  I spill things on me although I think I'm getting a little better with age.  But now, I don't have to worry about it anymore.  Joe's Jeans has created a super cute, white skinny jean (and it comes in other styles) which is made out of a material that repels water, coffee, soda and wine.  Inconceivable! (in the vein of "The Princess Bride")  This particular style, which I must get, is the Annie Skinny Jean.  Amazing, is all I can say.

There is a small disclaimer on the site which reads as:

NOTE: This garment will not repel pigment based colors such as lip gloss, makeup, nail polish, paint or other products of a similar composition and nature. The expected longevity of the treatment is approximately 20 home washes when being washed with a mild liquid detergent on normal wash cycle and low tumble dry settings. Do not use bleach. Dry clean safe.

But hey, enjoy for at least 20 home washes, if not more...stain-free!! OBSESSED!

Fashion Week El Paseo's First Launch Party in LA

Kicking it off in style at the Palihouse in West Hollywood, I got to attend the Fashion Week El Paseo First Launch Party in LA last week.  I was so intrigued and excited as it was co-hosted by Food & Wine Festival Palm Desert so you know the food was amazing!

Not to mention, a devilishly good drink called the Sparkling Stilleto.  Just add in Double Cross Vodka, fresh lemon juice, simply syrup, champagne and candied hibiscus flower.  Voila!

I got the opportunity to meet one of the designers who made an exclusive appearance - Jim Mullin of JM Couture, who is new to the Southern California scene and debuting his line this year along with opening his flagship store. Very exciting!

The ninth annual Fashion Week El Paseo 2014 starts on March 16th for seven glorious days filled to the brim with fashion, beauty and lifestyle events.  Hoping I can finagle my way there for the day and check out a few shows.  Check out the gorgeous Joanna Krupa (The Real Housewives of Miami) wearing this beautiful gown by the designer shown here, Michael Costello.

And here's Susan Stein (in the middle) who's fashion editor of Palm Springs Life and right next to her Samantha Coria of Mannfolk Public Relations. (Thanks, Sam!)

Tarte Summer 2014 Blogger Event

Wow, where has the time gone? I've been crazy, busy these days as I've taken on the role of Editorial Director for a beauty website called WISDOM IN BEAUTY. So, as you know with the perks of the job, I got the chance to attend a blogger Tarte event last week at the SLS Hotel.

It was in the veranda area at the hotel fully equipped with New Balance gear for the toning class that was already in session when I arrived.  They offered us water in our very own bkr re-usable glass bottle which I am now obsessed with.

I'm very excited to start playing around with the limited-edition summer 2014 products such as the different blushes, bronzing powders, self-tanning lotions and serums and their gorge golden days & sultry nights collector's eye shadow palette.  Makes me ready for Miami!

Now, that's a swag bag! Thanks, Tarte! x

Revolve Clothing has exclusively landed the top five fashion bloggers to include: The Blonde Salad, 4th and Bleeker, Sincerely, Jules, We Wore What and Always Judging for the Exclusive Bomber Jacket Collection

Channeling My Inner Karl

It's getting colder out and what better accessory to have than these rock and roll beauties from Henri Bendel.  These Stud Detailed Nappa Gloves have cashmere lining to keep those digits toasty warm and has the custom Henri Bendel snap closure, natch!  They're so cool that I am truly channeling my inner Karl Lagerfeld.

I have to say, I'm having a love affair with Bendel's accessories as of late.  The handbags are classic yet have these cool embellishments that make it seem coolly unique and the jewelry, well, go ahead - have a peek at my latest necklace purchase.  Their Bond St. collection is awesome!

A Shear Genius Sweater by J.W. Anderson

The weather is getting cooler and crisp - finally!  I mean, it is fall now.  I've been obsessing over sweatshirts and sweaters these days.  Saw this cutie Shears Sweater by J.W. Anderson on Matches Fashion.  Love how you can dress it up and dress it down.  This sweater is pure wool, intarsia knit so it's guaranteed to keep you warm and snuggly.

J.W. Anderson, who is an Irish-born designer, is now the new Creative Director for Loewe, the Spanish leather brand which is a part of the LVMH luxury stable.  And he recently got some fat funding from the LVMH group.  His brand has only been around for five years and he's most known for his transgender dressing.  Keep your eye on this bloke!

I "Choo-se" These Shoes!

I mean, do you feel me on these?  Do you understand?  These Choos are just hot, hot, hot.  Love the gradiated suede colour on these Abel Suede & Mirror Leather Degrade Pumps.  Sexy and stylist - the ultimate investment.  Time to hop over to Saks for a little online shopping...!

A Leather Dress for Fall by Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet

With fall in the air, the weather is getting cooler (unless you live in LA!) and what better dress to make your schmexy fall statement, than this uber cute and very back-baring Layne Stretch Leather Fitted T-Back Dress by Alice and Olivia by Stacey Bendet. You may say that it looks cute from the front, ok, I get.  But wait for it....

...voila!  Now, do I have your attention?  Enough said.

Time Flies When You Look This Good

I have always felt that a watch says a lot about a person - a bit of a statement piece.  As you may recall, I'm a huge fan of TW Steel and religiously wear my oversized white and rose gold piece.  When I saw this sleek silver tone chronograph watch by DKNY, I realized it was "time" to share.  Oh boy, that was pretty bad.

This beauty comes in silver (as shown) and gold, depending on what you fancy. I love how modern it looks and almost screams out that it's a man's watch...but, alas, it is not.
